Laura is back in town! She and Alice and I got together yesterday and made excellent amounts of excellent cookies.
Me: Hey! Guess what happens in a month and a half!
Dad: Hmm . . . oh! You get older!
Me: *Slightly crestfallen* That's not how I was going to put it.
Dad: You get more mature?
Me: *Pouting* It's my birthday!
Dad: You get presents.
Me: Thank you!
Laura: I don't, in the literal sense, have a car.
Me: But in the metaphorical sense, you have carriage. It just won't get us to the gym.
Laura: No, my personal poise cannot be used as a mode of transportation.
Me: *To Alice* That . . . is the first time I've heard of a gynecologist being called a "hoo-hah doctor."
