I dreamed that I went to the Career Center. Or possible the Charles Center, where I keep having to go lately for my Fulbright stuff, but it's basically the Career Center only for scholarships, so quite similar. Anyway, the spirit of Jane Austen was working there as a professional muse. Since I'd evidently been there and helped her out before, she asked me to work with her on Mondays from 9 to 5. I would be paid, presumably minimum wage or a little more. My job would be to go, invisibly, to delivery rooms, and tell new parents who were big Austen fans what to name their kids. I was unsure about this, both because 9 to 5 means I would get up much earlier on Mondays than I ordinarily do, and because I'm not sure how much help a hardcore Austenite needs to name a kid "Catherine". I guess the parents of boys might need more help, though; you can't expect an untrained layperson to come up with "Fitzwilliam".
