It looks like Himaruya recommends my favourite film Valerie and her Week of Wonders in his last post.
I have never seen anything like this (the closest thing I can compare this to is The Company of Wolves by Angela Carter).
It is pure poetry, a gothic horror and an erotic fantasy. A surreal portrayal of a girl reaching womanhood and a dream-like discovery of her sexuality.
And bisexuality.
And the fact that her family is related more closely than she would ever dare to think, that priests have dark, twisted secrets, that her grandmother has a lover who might be a blood-loving shape-shifter...
I hear that the Polish say something is "confusing like a Czech film". It´s definitely true in this case, but the confusion is so beautiful!
