I know it's cutting it close, but I wanted to squeak a post in by the end of March. I turned 45 on the 14th, which seemed to sneak up on me too!
I decided that my impending birthday was a good reason to start getting back into some sort of shape. The winter gut was pretty bad.
Starting the first week of March, I started doing 5 push-ups an hour between 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. It doesn't seem like much, but I wanted to start slow because in the past, every time I noticed that I was getting flabby and started working out, I would overdo it and then have to stop whatever my workout plan was.
For the third week, I decided to go up to ten pushups an hour, which caused me to strain my shoulder. I continued to do only five an hour.
For the fourth week, I moved up to six pushups an hour and now I am doing seven pushups an hour. It feels good to start something that I've been able to keep up with. Eventually I will add situps and some sort of aerobics to my routine.
I decided to take weekly "before" pictures and continue to do so as I progress. I want to be "presentable" by the time the pool is ready to be used which is approximately Memorial Day.
I chose not to flex or suck in my gut for these pictures, so there really isn't much to see (that you'd want to see, anyway)

Kind of disappointing to look at, really. But the pushups are getting easier and easier to do. I can tell my core muscles are starting to strengthen up again.
