So... yeah. Because I had little interest in either team in this year's Super Bowl and I was frankly getting tired of being pissed off with every other ad, I decided to use my Sunday productively in other ways. I read the first three chapters of Dorothy L. Sayers' "Gaudy Night" and then I mainlined nearly all of the
Lizzie Bennet Diaries. If you've missed these, or put them off like me, they're a brilliant redo of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice in video blog format on Youtube. There are also side blogs and twitter/tumblr/etc account that feed into the storyline; it's really amazing use of "new" media. Initially the series was humorous and zany with all the marriage and matchmaking shenanigans, but the last half of series really turned serious. I wound up agreeing with
melyanna about Lydia; watching her storyline has been painful, from her falling out with Lizzie to her relationship with Wickham. When the Bennet sisters get mad at each other, they don't mess around at all.
