Let's cast aside any of my preferred pairings in this. You're putting your two major franchises together, even they've had their own love interests in the past. You're in effect saying "hey this is what will get people interested/excited, let's go for it." For me, it's obvious and boring and that's exactly why it doesn't work for me. And I'm really not taking it well. I'm having to talk myself down and back out from a dozen arguments on twitter already.
