So I've been trying to pare back some of my Netflix queue via Watch Instantly. That has left me with some rather random choices. Last night I watched the Superman/Shazam!: Return of Black Adam animated DC Showcase film, along with the others. As much as I've grown to like Tim Daly's Superman, it was kinda nice to hear George Newbern back in the role. I saw STAS after JL/JLU so as a consequence Newbern was the voice I knew. I still really like the Spectre short and think it'd make a great starting point/concept for the tv series. I'm more whelmed by the Jonah Hex one, but aside from Firefly, I'm not big on westerns.
Then tonight I went into the nostalgia zone by watching the pilot of the tv series "Fame". I watched later seasons when it was originally on television, but I'd never seen how it started. I still wind up loving the teachers more than the students. (Even when I was young enough to identify primarily with the students I had this problem.) The teachers are pushing them to excellence and the students are all talking a big game. That first episode is the classic "new girl" fish out of water experience and filled with embarrassment squick if you've been teased when you were younger. I'm not sure whether to keep going or not. (Also bonus Fran Drescher guest star as the pretty popular girl.)
