Old fic
With the Snowpocalypse upon me, I've been looking through my old files (and fighting my keyboard). It's depressing seeing all the fandoms and interests collected around me. I even found a fic for a very obscure old ABC fandom "Strange World". I watched it mostly because of Peter Wingfield. As fate had it, he didn't show up until the end of the series, well after ABC canned it. But the fans managed to cobble together versions and I think SciFi may have finally shown the whole series at some point. It reminds me of "Fringe" and "Eleventh Hour" with all the focus on scary science. I was fascinated by Vivian Wu's mysterious character. She was clearly caught between loyalties. It's very much "use a canon scene" type story. But with our discussions of POCs and halfamoon going on, I'm considering posting it.
The problem and I'm encountering this with my comicsbigbang idea, how do you deal with characters with only one name or no name given? Vivian Wu's character is either the "Asian Woman" in some places or the "Japanese Woman" in imdb. Do I describe her but not name her? Or use the Asian Woman and feel very strange? I know SGA struggled with this all the time with Lorne and others. I don't like fanon names particularly.
