Military ranks and comics
And now I've realized how all the different versions of comics characters blend together. I've been desperately trying to get this one "Justice" fic finished and posted. And it's mostly ready except for one nagging thing -- Steve Trevor's rank. Depending on the source, he's everything from Captain to full Colonel, not counting the Earth-2 version that becomes a General eventually. Based on the only closeup available in Justice (he only appears twice), that looks like a Major's rank, yes? That stands to reason since Alex Ross is the "Silver Age is bestest" artist bar none. I *think* he wasn't Colonel Trevor until later? Also we have to distinguish between the Army and Air Force Steves. It's almost refreshing to write from a source that doesn't have multiple incarnations.
(We won't even go into the SGA question of whether Cadman is a Marine or Air Force lieutenant. I always said former, but some of the material is saying otherwise? Huh?)
