So we all knew that
havocthecat was evil right? *kicks friendlist* Right? *hmph* She had a
discussion about SGA AUs today. So I opened my silly mouth and mentioned "The Lost City" AU I wrote for a Nano a couple of years back.
"The Lost City" is a historical 1930s AU featuring our intrepid Dr. Rodney McKay on a quest for the legendary Lost City. Along the way, he bumps into the plucky and resourceful showgirl Laura Cadman. And there was much mischief and mayhem. Which is mischief and which is mayhem? You have to ask? Think Stargate meets Indiana Jones and a few musicals besides? There were a whole ton of pairings in this one. Sheppard & Weir show up in the Shanghai section, although they really didn't come alive until near the end of Nano.
"Old Photos" gives a pretty good idea of this AU's version of Elizabeth and her penchant for military men with a direct view of Miko Kusanagi. Dr. Heightmeyer was one of McKay's contacts, a former Broadway stage actress who unfortunately married a German baron just before Hitler came to power. I also posted
this diner scene between two Stargate SG1 characters you might or might not recognize. Depends on how you like your pancakes...
I will probably tackle rewriting the damn thing again, but only after
yuletide. Seriously folks, we have achieved Threat Level: Bears here and they don't look like anybody's fluffy teddy bears either. They take their fanfic challenges seriously these bears.
Also
picfor1000 has opened for another round of signups. Since I had so many problems last year, I think I'll punt on that one.
merfilly is taking prompts for a
Gen in January challenge. Prompts go up on the 17th.
And of course I forget one:
remember_wenn is opening up
its first fic fest. You can leave prompts until February with claiming happening then. Very small fandom that needs more fic written, s'il vous plait. If you like quirky WWII era dramedies with unforgettable characters, WENN is your place.
