Ok, it's a Friday night and this is rock bottom. I'm updating my livejournal. Oh well, I'm over it. You know, there are times in your life when you just have had enough and here I am. It's been a strange day. It was my last day of work and I felt pretty sad about it, relieved to not have to work anymore, but sad because I just lost my security clearance in the building and I can't run around chatting it up with the reporters and swiping open doors. It's also like there are all these people I met that I might never see again. I was thinking how cool it's going to be in the future when I open a paper at school and read the articles and I know these people. I think it'll be more special when I'm far away from there instead of in the building.

Like it was funny, the other day, I gave Bob Hilburn a package, and he's a wacky guy so he's like " well, what do we have here, why don't you wait and we'll open it together, let's see!" (which is even more strange when you realize he gets about 20 packages a day, no exaggeration) so he opened it and it's the new Jimi Hendrix biography written by the same guy who wrote one about Kurt Cobain and he flips the book over and there's a quote about how great the Kurt Cobain biography was on the back cover and its an LA Times quote, and Bob was like " hey, I wrote that" and then he put the book down and I left. Just another day at the Times...

So I will definitely miss the strange people. I'll also miss 36 year old photo guy, but that I am pretty sure is for the better. I can't help but think it's amazing how people can slip in and out of your life like that. I hope it works out for him, the pictures, the architecture, the fancy new camera he just bought. He showed me the inside of the Bradbury building, I can't believe I'd never gone in, it's beautiful.

I am NOT going to Santa Barbara this weekend, a decision supported on many fronts by many people, some using vulgar language (aka Nikki). Hopefully this is also for the best. I am probably missing one of the most raging 21st birthdays but what 21st birthday isn't raging in IV? Maybe next weekend I'll hit up Chris' dance party, maybe not.

Patrick sent me a really sweet text message last night after I went to bed horrendously early because of work in the morning, but I somehow woke up at like 3 in the morning to the psychadelic flashing of my phone and read it anyway. I miss that kid. He's a darling.

Ok, I think it's time for me to quit. By the way, I'm reading East of Eden and it's amazing, absolutely amazing. I love it.
