There are many kinds of pride. There is the kind that prevents you from putting forth anything less than your best effort in life, there is the kind that you feel when seeing the child that you helped to raise take her first steps, and sadly there is the kind that acts as a barrier which prevents you from being totally open with your significant other. The latter is the most dangerous form of pride because it forces you to mask disapointment with anger, pain with defensiveness, and a broken heart with indifference. Time to grow up...
