I'm intrigued by an article written about Faith Popcorn, this lady who's apparently dubbed a futurist and has an uncanny ability to predict trends in the future.....
...there was one phrase she coined that stuck to my mind and has been resurfacing over & over again, especially after the recent spate of natural disasters which have been occurring, she mentioned "Atmos-fear" in place of "Atmosphere" as one of her predictions.........is it time for nature to lash back at us or is it telling us that we're not doing something right to help preserve our environment..........but then again, there're already so many articles written about our environment, most notably, issues relating to global warming , which is indeed worrying, will we one day be able to survive what nature throws back at us?
Faith also mentioned this theory she called "Skin Deeper" - On the cutting edge of the developed world, our material opulence has bred isolation and left us emotionally starving. We crave physical contact. The fad for 'cuddle parties' is only the beginning; as our work hours mount and our friendships become virtual, we will seek simple physicality wherever we can find it. Doctors' offices and hospitals will begin keeping animals on hand to comfort recovering patients. Airports will discover that positive touches increase retail traffic and will hire actors to welcome you with a hug as you deplane. Mechanized 'hugging' booths will take the place of pay-phones in many cities. Even the most reserved financial advisors will literally hold your hand through tough times....
....hmmm.......will there be a surge in businesses catering to provide that very need for physical contact one day? Or perhaps it has already begun.........maybe I should go pick up some massage techniques?
