History: Tinkerbell was born Jeffrey Lanaughee, the eldest son of irresponsible, drunken, and promiscuous Jenna Lanaughee. The Lanaughee family, in addition to Jeff and Jenna, also consisted of seven young boys ranging in age from fifteen to five. Three of these boys were Jenna Lanaughee’s nephews, brought into her care after her sister was injured in a car accident. Due to his mother’s lifestyle, it was often Jeff who was left to care for the kids.
This unfortunate situation led Jeffrey to become a rebellious hooligan outside of the small apartment his family lived in. The urban area they lived in had no shortage of gang activity and he participated in this fully alongside his best friend, Tyler Kee. Tyler had a much more dangerous streak in him, and got them into a lot of fights and trouble, but they were loyal to each other because in their adventures they got all the things their family and home lives lacked: affection, emotional release, food, fun, booze, and cigarettes. The two boys had each other’s backs and that is also how Tyler ended up an unofficial second caretaker to the Lanaughee brothers.
Keeping so many kids fed required a lot of casual theft, and pick-pocketing was a common past time for the two boys. However, one day they chose the wrong individual to pilfer from. This was their first meeting with their future master, a young apprentice witch by the name of Arabia. Arabia very much felt that if the boys were incapable of civility, then they should be treated like animals. He cursed them by stealing their names, putting collars around their throats, and altering their minds to incorporate the mentality of a Chihuahua. Arabia renamed Jeff and Tyler, Tinkerbell and Bambi, respectively, and took them back to his home with him.
For the first few weeks of their imprisonment, the boys rebelled against their punishment in the only way a Chihuahua could: by snapping and snarling. However, as the curse began to settle into them, differences became apparent in Tinkerbell and Bambi. Tinkerbell’s will was ultimately lesser and he lost many of his human sensibilities, such as his attention span and sense of shame, while Bambi held on to more of his humanity. This loss included memories, and Tink soon forgot about the life he had left behind. Considering Jeffrey had always been a sidekick to Tyler, it was not surprising the weaker willed boy became the beta in their two-dog pack.
For the first two years of their mulct, Arabia focused almost exclusively on punishing and humiliating them. He forced them to wear stupid costumes and to do demeaning tricks, but eventually this was no longer particularly satisfying. Tinkerbell was too stupid to really feel humiliated by the game, and Bambi was simply resentful of the poor treatment.
Things began to change when Arabia made another acquisition. He kidnapped a golem named Fallen Tauzin, who had offended him. Tinkerbell has no real understanding of how the golem changed things, but Tink suddenly found his master being much kinder to him, and much kinder to Fallen as well. It was sudden and shocking when Arabia let the golem return to his family. Although this was strange and uncharacteristic of the proud and cruel witch, Tinkerbell did not question it, he left those kinds of considerations to Bambi.
Tinkerbell did, however, miss Fallen when he was gone. The two had formed a friendship, and upon seeing his unhappiness, Bambi sought out a way to visit the golem at his home. They found a piece of his clothing that had been left behind and used their Chihuahua noses to follow his scent. The trail actually led them to Fallen’s younger twin brothers. Unfortunately, Bambi and Tinkerbell had stolen one of their wallets in order to buy food, and upon finding the thieves, the twins soundly beat them. They did hear their story, however, and did eventually take them back to the Tauzin family home where Tinkerbell and Fallen were reunited.
With their quest completed, Arabia came to pick them up, returning them home where life continued on. Tinkerbell has enjoyed his master’s more affectionate treatment of him since.
Personality: Tinkerbell is not very bright, because of the curse cast on him he has a number of Chihuahua reminiscent personality traits.
Tinkerbell’s attention span is very short and thus reacts very quickly to any stimulus. Barking when startled, shivering when frightened, or chasing after squirrels all come to him easily and naturally despite once being a normal human boy. Pleasant emotions come just as swiftly. His love can be won unequivocally by both food and affection, even if he was previously wary.
Although Tinkerbell was once a hooligan who answered most confrontations with violence, Tinkerbell the Chihuahua is ultimately fairly good natured. He wants to play and be cared for and naively expects everyone to want to play with him. As a house pet, all he’s really expected to do is eat, sleep, and play, and Tinkerbell no longer has the same sense of heavy responsibility that he had carried in his human life. He continues to have very little respect for the law, but that’s because Arabia doesn’t respect the mortal laws either.
Sweet as he is, Tinkerbell is also sensitive to body language. When someone is nervous or angry and he doesn’t understand why, it makes him nervous in turn and a nervous dog is one prone to flashing its teeth. When he senses someone who is sad, however, he feels empathy and is driven to comfort by pulling out every cute trick in his doggy handbook.
Not all of his dogisms are so charming. Misunderstandings over dominance have led to fights between himself and Bambi, and Tinkerbell hates to fight with his best friend. Bambi and Arabia are the highest figures in his life, and while his master is clearly the provider of all good things, Bambi is his go-to for all points in his life. He generally considers Bambi to be the font of all knowledge and capable of answering any question. Tinkerbell has his own kind of insightfulness, though it comes from his simplistic worldview. He trusts his emotions more than he probably should, but because Bambi does all of the thinking, they make a good balance in the end. They are still teenage boys deep down though, and impulsiveness still gets them into trouble.
Independent, rambunctious, and insufferably curious, Tinkerbell loves adventure and often sticks his nose into everything with no concern for the consequences.
Extra:
Character Abilities: He can understand those animals with the inclination to speak. He ages more slowly under Arabia's spell. Dog hearing and sense of smell, slightly better than human nocturnal eyesight, slightly better than human sense of body language. And he's very dumb. Very dumb.
Possessions: Bambi?
Anything else: Although Tink and Bambi are best bros and do a lot together, they're also curious and independent, perfectly willing to get into their own trouble. His connection to Arabia won't be cut off, so Arabia will still be able to sense his actions and give basic signs/commands through sensations caused by the collar. But he's pretty okay with them having a side adventure. The dogs are not allowed to smoke cigarettes! Attempts to do so will cause said cigarette to flare up violently and burn them.
