Argh, I'm about to flip because I finished blogging this post and accidentally pressed something on my key pad that deleted everything?!!??!?! that was frustrating.. omg. so i'm going to temporarily blog the important bits first.
I suppose it's about time I blogged about my birthday and everything else given that it's been more than a month since i turned the grand old age of 22.
(I feel.. and probably am really old)
#1. Sunday brunch buffet @ Clifford
Fullerton bay hotel
Officially my favourite brunch place in Singapore and I would be there weekly if not for my general inability to afford it T_T
Put simply, the food at Clifford is fresh, unpretentious and well made. I can't say it's particularly creative or anything mind blowing, but each item is individually made and prepared with a lot of care and consideration for the customer and I really did appreciate it.
I suppose the last thing I like about buffets is when it's just an array of bad, lousy quality food that's just sitting there in heaps... waiting for greed to consume them all.
I baked mark a birthday cake even though I had a submission due 2 days after my paper and a moot 5 days later - it's a star wars themed cake that lost me a a lot of sleep. but hey #1 girlfriend award?!
The sides the cake are lined with darth vader cookies and there are also cupcakes with Yoda(s) falling into the cream.
#2. Sunday dinner at home
Dinner was at home (a last minute change) because I had to maximize whatever time I had to finish my submission - which was submitted unfinished anyway and sorely disappointing.
Nonetheless, I love home cooked meals so I was pretty happy to be home!
Under my mum's orders, my sister got me a blackforest cake because her theory is that's the only cake she knows for certain i can't make for myself
My lovely family with grandma
After dinner I had a surprise guest - i.e. the other birthday celebrant with the joint gift (between him and my parents)
A spanking new red coloured 5L kitchenaid <3 love it!
my presents for him in return look so pathetic ):
my parents were sending my sister home so that meant that they couldn't partake in the photo taking which is a little sad really.
I do love the photo on the left though because buds is photo bombing in a rather epic fashion <3
I got a huge range of baking related gifts for my birthday!
Including a blow torch from my sister, an atas set of measuring cups and an autographed copy of new world baking from mark and a laduree book from the IJ girls!
My birthday itself was spent in school and I was surprised with a baker and cook carrot cake (whcih is absolutely glorious) whcih was apparently a subject of debate because 1nicolette and aggie were convinced a chocolate cake was the way to go while lumps with her memories of sachertorte insisted i didn't like chocolate cakes lol.
loved it! and thnaks guys <3
also this photo screams #glamz
Thereafter, it was off to Basilico with Mark for a birthday dinner
#3. Dinner at Basilico
Regent Hotel
Basilico is one of those places you can't go wrong with - and because both Mark and I are creatures of habit.. we concluded we would both be appeased with spending our birthday evening at basilico
I adore the smell, taste and glorious texture of freshly baked bread
Lobster tails!!!!!
Second year celebrating our birthday at the Regent/ Basilico.. there should be some special discount for us man.
#4. Meeting the Braidies @ Chye Sent Huat Hardware
I can't say i like the food there very much but I did love their tea, the company I had AND THE AMAZING ADDIITON TO MY KITCHENAID!
miss all of you all the time and I wish everyone could have been there ):
All in all, i felt awful turning 22- I suppose i feel really like i'm meant to act and think like an adult now, but in so many ways, i'm really not adult material and i'd much rather be known as 16 and idealistic.
Instead, I've felt increasingly disillusioned about school and i feel like another year is really too much of a torture - and I to be frank am not quite sure how i'm going to get out of this state of.. nuah-ness.
Nonetheless, the company, meet ups and presents from turning 22 reminded me that age is really but a number and i'm really glad and grateful to have my amazing friends and family.
