highlights of vesak day (and the surrounding weekdays)
my dog is a jealous bitch - true fact.
Buddy has never been too happy about us travelling and having been with us for a good 3 years he must have figured by now that every time we lug the luggage out someone is going - and it isn't going too well this time around because wati and I are leaving a day within each other and both of us have giant luggages out
my dog is probably the asshole of the century and obviously got pissy when i started packing my luggage under wati's orders, so when i walked out to discuss with wati what else I was supposed to pack in for my sister, I walked in only to return to a dog which had flooded (no seriously, he really flooded) my bed, comforter and mattress protector with pee.
yeap, yellow smelly dog pee
and it was so much, despite wati and i catching him in the act, the pee had already seeped through the 3 layers of covers and right into the mattress
asshole of a dog also peed at three different parts of the bed - leaving me spending my night cleaning up my mattress with wati and well, being relegated to sleep in my sister's room which is furnished with a hard ikea bed.. i will never understand why my sister chose this bed over slumberland.. grumbles.
and after an hour of punishment he proceeded to seek forgiveness
by moping around, crying and basically looking cute.
I didn't give in.. but wati and my mum did (kns)
On other news, because everyone is on some form of an internship right now, it has also resulted in fewer opportunities for gatherings and dates with my ever useless boyfriend. and while I'd love to blog about our surprise birthday gathering for Jon, jianhao has yet to upload the pictures he took so that post shall have to wait.
I can however blog about today itself. Seeing that mark and I have barely spent more than3 hours with each other since last wednesday, we decided this today would be pak-tor day and so it was off to Adam Road (clearly the most romantic place to bring your girlfriend) for lunch after training the boys. Well in his defense.. I suggested it.. because I had a mad craving for their awesome fishball noodles and ice jelly
yummy
and yes I am in love with fishballs and have been since I was 4 and was first introduced to the fishball noodles stall at farrer road mkt (pre-renovation) which is sadly gone
seriously, the uncle makes the best fishball tunghoon dry ever!!! (okay maybe his fish dumplings aren't as good as the stall I grew up with but his fishballs are all sorts of amazingggg rolled into one)
They were really crowded today so i had to queue for about 15 mins for my bowl of noodles, upon ordering the aunty told the uncle my order and he immediately turned, beamed (despite being really busy) and waved frantically while screaming hello and attempting to converse with me over the chitter chatter of the crowd and the clanking of his pans on why i haven't been to his store in so long (in 3 weeks actually. but seeing that I used to patronise him every day I understand why it feels like 3 weeks is so long)
he also proceeded to douse my noodles in chilli and vinegar while reminding the aunty how I'm the one who likes a lot of vinegar
His store is littered with numerous food certificates and the number has increased since I first started patronizing him, but their service is ever so friendly and fantastic and the food standard is still as fantastic as ever !
Their fishballs are amazing and I cannot get over how bouncy and crunchy and yummy they are - btw, I ordered a $5 bowl of tung hoon with extra fish dumplings (and extra chilli and vinegar) and a bowl of fishballs on the side. I had a grand total of 8 fishballs and mark had 6.. and I also finished most of the noodles
ironically, after the meal, I wasn't full, so...
Ice jelly time!!!!!!
For all of you who have never tried the ice jelly at Adam road, you have my sympathies. It is amazing.
the bowl is packed with aiyu jelly (of proper consistency and isn't sweet), shaved ice and cocktail fruits
apparently, my order is so memorable that the owner of the stall knows my order by heart - mark ordered my desert and the front lady got confused, when the uncle making the dessert turned and saw mark he apparently went:
"Orrrh, ice jelly with extra jelly, no sugar and extra lime right?"
gotta love my customized orders :9
As a whole, lunch was fantastic, and I've successfully made myself hungry (despite needing to wake up in 6 and a half hours) and I feel like I might kill for a bowl of adam road fishball noodles and a cup of bbt for breakfast
strangely enough, despite my general dislike for macs I'm hooked to their sausage mcmuffin with egg (and I wonder why I'm gaining weight at an exponential rate.. no exercise + eating non stop)
anyway, back to the date. SO mark was meant to spent the afternoon with me since I'll be flying off for 3 weeks in a week + the little time we've had together since the holidays started. However, about 45 mins into the date (first 30 mins was spent eating), he got a msg from his friend to play mahjong today, and within the next hour he disappeared - yea yea he apologized, but also disappeared at lightening speed.
so there went my day.. ruined all my plans... so I sat along at home with wati and buddy and spent my day watching Dear John with the 2 of them - romantic ttm.
I have to admit though, wati is hilarious to watch soppy movies with, she started judging amanda seyfried's character for lusting after John still despite being married and went "AIYAH you're married already lah. and he's a good man"
before the segment on amanda seyfried's character lusting on john though, wati was rattling off on how "they should let the husband die so that she and john can be together"
my maid.. needs to lay off the korean drama serials
ANYWAY, so when deserted by said useless boyfriend, I decided to find comfort in something else:
baked chocolate chip cookies and they turned out really well! (+ it was a really easy recipe)
Got the recipe from:
bakebakebake.livejournal.com/3158477.html#cutid1 I reckon you should reduce the sugar to 1/3 each or 1/4 if you're making this though, because with the chocolate chips the cookies turned out slightly too sweet imo (then again I'm really not an accurate gauge because I have a very low threshold as to what is sweet - for example, 0% sugar passionfruit green tea from Gong Cha is considered sweet to me)
(Y) At present, my house is cookie heaven.
chocolate chip cookies + the sugar cookies I baked on Monday night.. who needs a boyfriend.
