Here We Go - Here We Go - Jv Poms!
YaY Camp went awesome! Lets just say were going to Chicago! :]
Wednesday - I woke up at 4:45 to get ready for camp, then finally got there around 8 and unpacked. Me, Lex, Ash and Natasha roomed together. So we got our team outfits on and headed to the auditorium for the welcoming presentation. Each squad got a Badgerette who helped critique all the dances you did and ours was Sarah. She was the nicest girl ever. After this we learned the warm up routine and moved on to our first real dance which was super steps. We perfected it a bit then performed it, earning first place! Hell yes!! We also learned another dance called the "competition" dance. Around 9 we all headed back up to our dorms, showered, had a squad meeting and went to bed.
Thursday - We all woke up bright and early to practice the "competition" dance. Today we had to perform open and the "competition" dance. This was by far the cutest dance we learned. Before open we got our group pictures taken then performed open. After open we changed back into our team outfits for the day and learned another dance that I call the "mambo" dance. We went back to the dorms and sat around for like 2 hours then got ready to perform the "competition" dance. Before we left my coach told all the sophomores to meet in her room. I was a little nervous to see what was going to happen next but it was actually really exciting news. As of right then Chelsea and Tiff were captains. Mrs. Gore told me that I was really stepping up like captain material and catching on to the dances really quick so I was a real asset to the squad. In this case she asked me to become another captain. I was shocked. Of course I said yes so it was a pretty exciting afternoon. So we performed the "competition" dance and then got all decked out for Funk Forum which is when everyone dresses funky and learns a really sweet hip hop dance that just happened to be to Get It Poppin haha. Me and Lex wore NBA jerseys with shorts and tube socks. Thats hott! We did nightly ratings after Funk Forum and we recieved first place again! Since I was a captain now I had to move into the captains dorm. So I had like 3 girls help me transfer stuff from one room to another, it was crazy.
Friday - We woke up early once again and practiced the "mambo" dance. I was a little unsure of it but I quickly got it down. Today was a relaxing day. We went to the gym to do technique and stretching. Then the Miss Badgerette girls performed. Tiff did an excellent job, actually all 3 of the Pinckney girls represented us well lol. Following this the Funk girls performed and we learned another dance to Don't Mess With My Heart. I was so tired/lazy that I just didn't feel like learning the dance at all haha. Then we went back to the dorms and got ready to perform the "mambo" dance and captains/officers. Right after the performances were done we had our nightly ratings and we got first on the "mambo" dance. We also got to put a page in the B*Book for being spirited. Tonight was a very fun night. The staff of Badgerette did a skit which was hilarious! After the skit everyone got up in the famous circle to get there freak on. Of course the Badgies made a sad speech that got us all crying. So we went back to the dorms and ate pizza, did white elephant and the sophomores did a skit that made fun of all the freshmen haha. It was grrrreat!
Saturday - We got to sleep in a little bit then woke up to Chelsea telling us that we didn't make top 4 for open. It was a little disappointing seeing as we made it last year and middle school beat us :[ We were all bummin but I'm still proud of the squad, we did a great job. We met with Sarah for the last time. We performed skills then the captains got up and did the "competition" dance. Once all the performances were done the Badgerettes announced all the awards. We ended up getting first place overall in the Jv Division, and winning first place overall the squads in the captains/officers routine. After all the announcements everyone took pictures outside then headed back to the dorms to pack up. It was sad to leave. I couldn't have asked for a better time and I became much more closer with a lot of the girls on my team. Jv you guys did SO good...WERE GOIN TO MIDWEST BABY! :-P
