vanille galante hermes 4 stars vanilla jasmine
there is a wonderful rene magritte painting depicting a large carrot, a wine bottle, and a wine bottle whose top half has turned into a carrot. it is titled the explanation. ellena does the same thing in VG with vanilla and yland-ylang, brillliantly dovetailing the medicinal, cough-syrup notes of vanilla absolute (:no vanillin here, thank god) into the strange petroleum smell of benzyl acetate, a main component of jasmine and ylang. the sum total bottle-carrot is actually a sort of lily soliflore. it's so simple and straightforward you wonder why no one has done it quite htis way before.
