5th Problem Solved ☢ Donatello ☢ Action/Presents (backdated to Christmas)

Dec 27, 2011 19:22

[Guess who actually found time for presents? This guy!

He left his presents to his brothers in their rooms. For Leo, it's a series of smooth retractable poles and chains tipped with weights--both more specialized for ninjutsu training than anything he'd find in the gymnasium (and the latter are very useful as weapons and tools). For Mike, he'll ( Read more... )

[She was just about to head off to the kitchens to when she finds Don's note.

Oh boy.

For some reason, one that she can't quite place, her heart flutters, but only for a moment. As quickly as it happens, it stops. O-odd. It's... probably nothing, right? She shakes off the feeling and continues on her way, attributing the awkward thing as excitement or anxiety over celebrating Christmas without her family for the first time in her life. Yeah, that had to be it.

Give her a few hours, and she'll have made a few small batches of cookies; she wasn't exactly sure what kind of cookie Don liked... if he liked them in the first place. However, she figured it would be safe to go with a variety: classic sugar, chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, and shortbread. Once the dishes and ingredients have been cleaned up, and the cookies stacked and organized into a small festive tin, she grabs her handiwork and heads over to Don's room.

She'll just... take a moment to gather her wits before she gently knocks on the door.]

Come in! [Donatello's gotten lost in his work again. He has three books open in front of him and he's scribbling away in his notebook. And he's got a big thermos of his new Lottie-approved coffee.

But he does have Violet's present safely tucked away in his drawer.]

[A quick inhale and exhale and she turns the knob and opens the door.]

H-hey, I saw your note. [And click, she shuts it behind her, her eyes landing on the coffee and a frown forming on her face.]

Looks like someone hooked you up.

[He looks up and smiles sheepishly.] Christmas present.

[He gestures her closer.] Get over here. I need to explain this to you. [And he takes out a small box from his drawer, putting it down on the desk.]

Whoever it was is far too kind for their own good. [Seriously; you don't feed an addict the item of their addiction.]

...What did you do? [Oh god, it comes with instructions; should she be scared? Regardless, she walks over anyways, holding the tin casually behind her back.]

She was just being really nice. [He thinks it's wise to avoid naming Lottie so Violet won't give her the evil eye every time they meet after.]

Nothing dangerous! Unless you're secretly a robot, in which case, you might want to speak up now. [He opens the box, oblivious to the tin. There's a pretty hair barrette with a elegant metal violet fixed on it.]

[Violet would try to pry more on the coffee issue, but she's currently stunned into silence.]

...Did...you make that?

Yeah. [It's not a big deal to him. After so long of being able to do nothing but train and work with metal and computers, delicate stuff like this is practically child's play. He looks up and smiles at her.] There's a button. Press the center. And, uh, make sure you're not looking directly at it.

It's not going to explode or anything, is it?

[She'll reach over to press the button; she doesn't take it quite yet, though, seeing as she can't press the button and grab with one hand at the same time. She needs the other to continue holding the tin behind her back.

At least she follows his instructions and doesn't look at it once she presses it.]

Nope!

[The center shoots out a beam of incredibly strong light. It's a thin one, but it's powerful.] It's a flashlight. If you're ever in trouble, that should be strong enough to show you through anything short of a black hole.

Turn it off and close the petals on themselves. [Yep. The petals can close too.]

[...You're not a codfish, Vi. Close your mouth.

Poor thing's blown away. She has to shake off her amazement before she can do anything else.] O-oh, okay.

Um... [And she presses the button again and proceeds to close the petals.]

[There's a ripple of light along the backs of the flower petals, then the light fades.] It's a signal disrupter. So, you know, you can't be tracked with any computers or heat sensors or something when you're invisible.

[He carefully opens up the flower again, and it just looks like a normal barrette.] You want to put it on?

...Wow... Just... thank you.

Really, Don. This is amazing. I... I don't even really know what else to say.

Yeah! Er, wait... [She smiles a bit and takes hold of the barrette... this requires two hands though. Violet pulls the tin out from behind her back and holds it out for Don.]

I made you cookies. They're... nowhere near as neat or fancy or useful as this is, though. [INADEQUATE GIFT.]

Hey, no problem. Merry Christmas. [THERE ARE NO INADEQUATE GIFTS especially since he probably spent about as much time on the barrette as you did on the various kinds of cookies. Hey, this stuff is simple to him.

He perks up massively because you are giving cookies to a teenager what do you expect] Really? Thank you, Vi! What kind?

Merry Christmas to you, too.

[Once the tin's out of her hand, she'll pull some hair away from her face and pin it back with the barrette. Heee, it works well! No slippage or anything.]

Well... I wasn't sure what you liked, so I did the basics. Sugar, chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, and shortbread. Kind of the only recipes that are impossible to mess up, too.

[Yay, you're wearing your hair back. :D

He grins, carefully taking the tin and putting it on the desk.] Seriously? Wow, first time I won't have my bros going for them. Thanks, really!

[He opens it up, immediately munching on a chocolate chip cookie and offering Violet one.]
