I have a hypothesis that there may be nuclear fusion reactions occurring at and near the core of the planet, producing additional water, gradually rising to the surface. This is an unproved hypothesis, with some contradicting evidence. There are some who speculate that the planet has been gradually expanding over billions of years, which would support the hypothesis, if true.
