Well, we should all question conspiracy theories, since some of them might be true. Capitalism, for example, big conspiracy. The main one.
Trump says these things to appeal to his Jones base. As far as his actual beliefs, I think he is more like a political robot. I think his whole style evolved from him not knowing what he was doing - and eventually he found a way to make this 'work.'
Jones doesn't talk much about warming these days. When he does, he reverts to old falsehoods, stumbling around. He no longer says climate change does not exist - neither does Trump. This is progress. (Trump said he didn't believe the report, but this was a throw-away response). What they both will try to say is that man did not cause warming. While this is bad science, it may also be partly true - there may be a few causes. Arguing about such things is pointless. When Austin gets levelled by a tornado, he might come around and support fighting warming, yet never concede that it is primarilly anthropogenic.
I support people listening to all voices, to find the best truth, if not to build the best argument. I just now posted something related to this (CNN) in my own journal.
Logically and practically, it doesn't help to ignorantly blame those in the know as being ignorant. This is Trumps pathos and politic. It is like fingernails on a chalkboard for people living in reality. But it is also a means - or escape hatch - by which he gets to his next position. He is a fool who likes fooling people, as a bargaining chip. So, I think it is entirely possible that he would take a new position on warming should he be elected in 2020. This is not an endorsement. I would prefer that OTHER populist.
