EDITED
The pictures weren't showing up, so I've replaced them with links to the pictures on Flickr.
My plan to get my own domain and some hosting has been put off due to lack of income, so I'm going to start my knitblogging here, rather than waiting until I have a domain, as I'd intended. All the knitblogging entries will be transfered to my real domain once I have one.
So here's the first entry in my knitblog.
Rogue
I finally finished the guage swatches for my
Rogue (having given in and bought the
Denise knitting kit, which I LOVE) and got started on the actual sweater. It's going great!
I did the body hem in twisted stockinette stitch on US size 5 (3.75mm) needles.
(I took a detail picture of that, but it didn't turn out well, and I've hit my monthly upload limit on
Flickr anyway, so I can't show it to you. But come January I'll update with a (hopefully better) pic to show those who don't know what twisted stockinette looks like.
After that I started knitting in the round on US size 8 (4.85mm) needles. The side cabling hasn't been nearly as difficult as I expected, and I'm very proud of my progress so far.
CablesIt's a little looser than I'd like in some places, but overall I'm pleased.
The instructions on the pattern are extremely detailed, so switching to flat knitting for the pocket, and then picking up the stitches at the base of the pocket again wasn't that hard. Here are front and back views of the sweater with pocket completed and stitches picked up
Front 1Front 2Pretty cool, no?
So that's all for the Rogue for now. Updates (with pics) will follow in January, once I'm able to upload more pics to Flickr. If I'm going to keep knitblogging I may have to pay for Flickr pro. It's not that expensive. And hopefully my sister,
Dave, and
Flohdot will continue to let me use their cameras, since I certainly can't afford to buy one of those any time soon.
