*ahem*

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BUNNEH-IN-ARMS!

dqbunny, you are a sweet and special person, and I'm very glad to have "met" you.  I love our talks (which we've not had as many of, alas), and I appreciate your level headedness and your sense of humor.  I hope you have a wonderful day!

So.  I'm 31.

*suppresses shudder of fear and dread*

Really, my day was shockingly uneventful.  I got up early to let Darwin out and play with him, and once he settled down into "puppy post-playtime coma" mode, I started working on the accounting assignment that I'd been putting off until the last minute.  My own fault, I know.  If I'd done it earlier, I could've curled up and watched more Bleach eps, or some of my favorite BtVS or AtS episodes.

I had to make a trip out at one point, and while I was out and about, I treated myself to a raspberry mocha from Starbucks, and promptly went home and started hitting the workload again.  The LJ birthday wishes really made me smile despite having this project looming over me, so thank you very much for that.  I'd go so far as to say it was one of the nicest parts of the day. :)

Tora's parents managed to put a slight damper on the day, which bothered Tora quite a bit.  (They completely forgot/blew off my 30th birthday last year, and either never realized it or didn't give enough of a damn to acknowledge or even apologize.  They sent a card this year, but Tora was mostly disappointed that they didn't even call.  Usually birthdays involve a phone call, and an invite over to the house for a visit and dinner.  It's been this way for as long as I've been with Tora.  Somehow I've fallen out of good graces, I think, because in December they threw a party for the neighbor that involved caterers, a DJ, and a tent in the backyard.)

Tora-kun came home early, and walked in with a dozen red roses, which was wonderful, and then we indulged in puppy playtime, which helped my mood a lot.  We then went over to Mom's house for dinner (steak, roasted potatoes, and asparagus), and then... pretty much came home and indulged in puppy play until Darwin conked out.  (We'd gone out to dinner over the weekend to celebrate, and it was a bit of a disappointment.  Actually, it was a big disappointment.  The food was mediocre and the service sucked.  And the place we went to?  Was. Not. Cheap.  Not by a long shot.  I got seared yellowfin tuna that the idiot chef fucking drowned in a "wasabi cream sauce".  It was awful. You do not smother ANYTHING in wasabi.  But the service was really terrible. We had to ask to see the wine list when it became evident that no one was going to show it to us of their own accord, and didn't even get said wine until we were almost done with dinner.  And our waiter looked as if he'd just come in off the beach.  Scruffy and wrinkled.  Trust me -- at this place, that should be completely unacceptable.)

So, kind of a mixed bag, I guess.  I'll be a lot happier once this accounting project's done.

So on that note, time to get to work on finishing it!

birthday
