On Monday Katie's nurse didn't show up, which was odd. No phone call or anything, apparently it was mid-afternoon before my parents found out why. She got a new job that she's working MWF, by the way, oh-somebody-else-was-supposed-to-tell-you. The end result is that MWF Katie's bus gets to the house at 2:00 and, um, somebody has to be there to meet her. I got a call from my dad at work Tuesday and I agreed to take the Friday shift, so he and mom can split the Monday and Wednesday shifts. That way nobody has to take *too* terribly much time off work on a regular basis, and we're covered unless something else changes. (When Tim's back in town I may see if he can do a Friday every now and then...) Also the G-tube troubles continue. There's stomach acid leaking and nobody can figure out why. It's not pretty, and doesn't look very comfortable (oddly enough acid isn't good for the old epidermis...) Some days I worry about my sister. I wonder why that might be?
In work news, I almost got to go to Mexico. (Kind of like almost pregnant? Doesn't count if it doesn't happen.) Stephanie tried to get me on the trip, but the sponsor said no to the data entry person coming, even though we have 2 slots and the PI can't make it. Grrrr. The rest of work continues to be good. I've introduced Shannon to Zim and she comes in quoting Gir daily now. teehee. Oh! I get to do more cognitive testing for one of the new studies coming up. This is exciting. Really, it is. It will become tedious after a while I'm sure, but it's still good experience to have, and if I go in thinking it will be fun maybe that'll stick for awhile, eh?
Politically...the conviction of Libby was exciting, but I'm kind of discouraged by all the talk that this is it, it's over, move along, nothing to see here. It's so fucking obvious they were/are covering things up...why else lie when talking about it? So why would the investigation end here? Where's the Ken Starr follow-every-lead-until-you-can-impeach-somebody attitude? Bah. The fact that the DAY after the conviction we're talking about the timing of the inevitable Presidential pardon...unbelievable. And I find it sad that two of the jurors have come out saying that they wouldn't mind it if he got pardoned, because even though he broke the law and got convicted he's just such a likable guy! Whatever. Jim Jones was likable as fuck, and all those poor people got was some Kool-aid (at gunpoint).
I'm quite excited for Spring this year. This doesn't sound terribly deep considering the amount of snow here this year, but it's almost a tangible thing. I feel happy when I come home from work at 6:30 and the sun's still up. (This will get even better as of Sunday! Bring on the time change!) It's getting warmer too. Still jacket weather, but I went on a half hour walk at 10:00 tonight and wasn't uncomfortable at all.
I'm really really excited about getting up to the mountains even more this spring and summer...I *WILL* conquer at least one 14er by the end of the summer. I'm thinking Mt. Democrat. It's fairly close and seems appropriate somehow. (AND I've just discovered...there are 3 peaks close to each other...you can do 3 14ers in a day! Democrat, Lincoln, and Bross. WTF is a Bross?) Anyway, there will be much mountain exploration this year. The RMNP pass kind of suffered last summer due to the declining nature of the relationship it was attached to. Not this year dammit. I'm too close to these big tall things to not enjoy being up in them.
