The Postal Service covered Suddenly Everything has Changed. Had to purchase on iTunes. Yay for new music! It's not as emotional as the Lips version of course, but it's a decent enough cover. They respect the song and that's what matters. Discovered this while browsing Borders trying to figure out where to spend the $30+ in store credit I currently have burning a hole in my wallet. I've gotten a shitload of excellent new music lately from Amber and Jake but the stuff I really like I have everything the band has released. Bah. What to buy, what to buy? (I finally decided that the Cooper Temple Clause was definitely worth seeking out more of, but somehow the new CD is import-only and $36?! What the fuck?)
Skiing yesterday was just spectacular. It snowed all damn day which sucked for Stephanie, who was wearing sunglasses due to misplaced goggles. It felt damn good though. It was my first day skiing that I did not once go up a lift with the intention of riding a green back down. Blues all day, straight down, stopping only at the top of the lift to put headphones in. The only sucky part is just the way Winter Park is laid out. All of the green and blue runs dump into these loooooooooong fucking catwalk/traverse things that are completely flat and/or uphill at times. My arms are sore as hell from all the poling along, trying to get back to a lift. We learned in the afternoon and hit the Mary Jane side after lunch and looking at a map...all blues and blacks over there. I had my best run ever on the 2nd to last run...down Bluebell, Cooper Temple Clause (Music Box) cranked, *flew* over bumps that scared me as recently as that morning...finished the run panting w/ a huge fucking smile on my face. It was great. Yes I am now sore, still, and stairs make my calves shriek in remorse for yesterday's excitement, but that's the price you pay...
And now for something completely different!
Tim's cat is nuts at times. I was in the kitchen tonight and heard a small crash and a howl from the living room. Ozzy had managed to pull my full glass of ice water off the coffee table backwards and dump it all over the floor and himself. He was not happy. Did he learn anything from this? I doubt it, but we'll see. Later I was in the bathroom peeing from a standing position, as boys sometimes do, and Ozzy ran up behind me, leaped onto the edge of the toilet, and dunked his paw in the yellowed water. Kinda gross. He ran off quickly.
