So on Saturday we tried to escape Whittier to go to Soldotna. It almost worked, except for we were back within 24 hours. So not all things go as planned. Things are just crazy here this week.
For example, Kei and I have been removed from our closet. We spent Sunday night in the main room, and we spent last night on the Swee' Pea. That was an adventure. We stayed up to watch Carnival Spirit dock, because we've always wanted to see the whole docking procedure. Since Mat docked the Swee' Pea at the hotel we were really close to the cruise ship dock. It was amazing. It did this whole pivote thingy right in front of the harbor and then it backed into place. That was kinda scary. Big ship backing into place...You never know what it's going to hit. Then we watched it tie up and then we went to sleep. Sleep is good. Anyway we wake up this morning, Kei climbs the ladder and starts screaming for me to get up there and look at something. I hasten up the ladder only to see that shore is not but 20 feet from the prow. When we went to sleep it was probably over 200 feet. We were in very low tide. Thankfully we were still floating. Walking up the dock ramp was difficult however.
We went and got breakfast at the Lazy Otter before returning to clean the boat. Except for how windy it was because we all ended up very wet. Then there was the slight problem of the sheer amount of stuff Mat wanted off the boat. And the fact that we needed to shower and go to the post office. In the midst of cleaning the boat, I got a phone call from the Kirts saying they were coming to visit today as it was their last day in Alaska. So I'm meeting them in about 20 minutes. They didn't make the tunnel I thought they would.
Yesterday Kei and I went on the four hour glacier cruise. Kei is affraid of Glaciers which is really too bad because they can be so pretty. I guess it's just up close. It was not as exciting as my last glacier cruise. Except for Lief kept giving us free food. Maybe to make up for almost breaking Kei's ankle on the Fourth of July. Who knows. We did see some Sea Otters. Very cute.
I have finished reading the Harry Potter book. Had to offer Kei counseling when it was over. I can see why she was upset, I was upset. It was a fantastic bloody book. Wonder how long it will be until the next one comes out? Probably a very long time. *sighs*
