Ahaha, I never realised Quantum Leap was a feminist show :D Sam leaping into the body of a female does offer a rather juicy context for some banter about the difficulty of being a woman, so why not!
From episode 4 of season 2: What Price Gloria?
Buddy: I like my coffee like my women - hot and sweet.
Sam: GRRRR.
--
Al: Gloria's 27 years old. She's fighting the biological clock. Those little eggs are ticking off like timebombs.
Sam: Al, a woman can have a healthy baby into her forties!
Al: But people didn't realise that in 1961!
[eventually Gloria becomes the first female car designer and Sam the head of the entire department - talk about emancipation!]
--
And then there's this:
"I've come to the conclusion that women are part masochists. It's like someone designed a modern day torture rack you can wear. From the bra to the stockings to the tight skirts and the shoes from hell. They get up everyday and perform this weird binding ritual - and for what?"
- Sam Beckett (the main character, "not related to the author")
Al falling for Sam's character allows a light queer reading as well, but I won't go into that right now... Gosh, I'm thinking of changing my proseminar topic again! Help! Someone please give me some patience and ambition, so I can make a career out of this.
*goes back to geeking*
