On a mission.

Vic, I and several thousands others on YouTube are on a mission to give a Finnish guy called Janne Suni what he deserves - shitloads of cash! It seems that Timbaland ripped off his tune from 2000 to write the godawful "Do It" for Nelly Furtado. I'm a big fan on these SID6581 sounds but not trained enough to make any technical claims about the sameness of the two tracks (I'll leave that to Vic and his inside info on low pass filters). But even to a wannabe like me, they do sound similar enough:

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL ARTIST! SPREAD THE WORD!

Like it has been pointed out in the YouTube discussions, if anyone stole from Timbo himself, they'd be sued in a second. But since it's the other way around, big guys stealing from unsigned UG artists, some people actually reckon T. is doing Suni a favour! I find this quite preposterous. I can't preach too loud, though, as I don't buy nearly as much music as I'd like to. I do find the Internet a great way for smaller artists to make their work known to people but, in order to keep them going, we should throw them some money from time to time as well... *hits herself*

I'll go buy the new Imatran Voima album tomorrow. Promise! (it should be out, shouldn't it?)

EDIT: Aww, someone has compiled a site with all necessary info: http://www.pelulamu.net/timbaland/
