spring break pre-nyc...
got to the airport no prob, sat around doing nothing at rdu since i was a bit early. not really excited but once i was at the airport i kind of just wanted to be home and have the trip over with. so that was pretty uneventful, the flight attendant was a very amiable woman and i kind of wish i'd been sitting in the front so i could talk to her but instead some other girl gave her the details of her social life and i felt sick b/c i hadn't eaten i guess. that was fun. got into pitt and thought i'd have to hurry to make it from A21 to A7 in a 20 minute layover but it turns out pitt numbers in a U rather than linearly so 7 was like 2 gates down from 21 and i had time to spare and sit and just stare at the same sign. got to sdf exhausted and bleary-eyed, got in the car and half slept the way home.
friday was just kind of laundry and such since mom took the car. came home at noon and we went shopping and i bought the most expensive pants i own and they were already freaking 75% off. damn. but whatever, i like em and they're mad comfortable and i got a nice shirt to go with it so life was good. went to walmart (oh how i missed thee) and then went home and made fried eggplant and some pasta and spinach salad for the fam for din. then drove downtown and met up with eli and his family (well, his parents and grandfather) to watch heidi in scapa's les mis which was pretty nice, reminded me of the good ol' dunbar musical days, those were fun. and flipping through i noticed katie sink and chase satterwhite as scapa freshmen. like shit, katie was in 2nd grade when i carpooled with her brother in middle school and chase was always lindsay's much younger little brother. and now they're freshmen. i've never felt so old. it was fun though, and i got to see eli and his grandfather remembered me which was sweet. had to check the uk game score at intermission of course, us and about 90% of the audience. saturday and sunday was just basketball and some family time, doing some knitting and cooking. monday i got the haircut and dentist down, no cavities which is good, just some extra tartar from like 2 years of nonvisits. hey, i was expecting worse. shopped a little bit and bought a couple shirts and socks. monday night i watched my dad's illegal million dollar baby which was alright, it kind of felt like a movie i knew would be awesome if i'd just been drawn in a little more but for some reason i felt a little too detached to get into it. tuesday was the doctor which was fun once the needles got involved. tetanus booster since i hadn't had one since 1989 (i think that's wrong though i swear dr. linde gave me one at some point since then) and then bloodwork which took two torturous misses and finally a get. damn veins. then the eye doctor where apparently my left eye isn't as bad as it was although it only improved by about .25. whatever i'll take it, at leas tmy eyesight isn't worsening. around 10:30 brandon finally called me after work and after some indecision we went to get a movie. oh, and tuan called me to chitchat which was... interesting. i mean, what do i say to my 40 year old cousin? yeah. anyhow, we actually agreed on harold and kumar and after some seatbelt beeping issues then went to fulfill a chocolate milk urging he had that resulted in a gatorade and veggie stix purchase. watched the movie, 6 minutes of the main menu and all. and then wednesday, sans appointments, i got a call from adina and made a lunch date with her for before the uk-eku game on thursday, went to ambre's and bought stuff on clearance at hallmark, spent like 30 minutes until we finally decided to watch elf, made a quick trip to kroger to buy cookies, went back to her place to discover we'd forgotten the movie, she went and got it and returned just as the cookies finished, popped some popcorn (after a little confusion as to the "do yo like the taste of real corn" question) and watched the movie. finished JUST at 4:30 which was when she had to go babysit the benningtons and i had to go fetch mother from work so did that. came home and ate dinner. jacob called to say he'd be around 9-9:30 and after some speedbump cursing he picked me up and we went to charlie brown's for white russians by the liter (liter my ass, it was all ice... jumping ice at that). and then lynagh's to ring in saint patty's day and for interesting drinks (which ended up being sours and a-lot-of-screw-and-just-a-little-driver(crappy one at that)) and the great realizations that it's fun to hang out with good people and that he is the mayor's son were unearthed and you know, duly noted. then did a trip around the circle in much better time than i expected before returning to the home base. it was good times though, despite the fact that after i spent all the time making by far the best napkin origami crane ever, the bartender threw it away. just swiped it and *poof*. damn. and honestly, i haven't a clue what we talked about but no uncomfortable silences so i'll run with it :) so now it's wed night, i have about 13 more hours before i'm going even norther colder (damn) and all i have on the agenda is lunch w/adina, uk game, and then hopefully being packed and ready for louisville. home's been good, wish more people had been around but i had a good time w/the people who were and i'm sure new york has something in store ;) stay tuned. and uk better not lose. i have a feeling i'm going to lose some duke friends this ncaa tourney... eek. true blue blood runs thick.
