Miscellany

Odd stuff from the past two weeks:

-Monster Hunter Freedom on PSP -- Killed my first dragon... actually a wyvern... and one that looked like a giant plucked chicken.

-FREE COMIC BOOK DAY was heralded as a success with three free comics and the purchase of the following "overstock" (a.k.a. convention leftovers) for $1 each:
-Doom Patrol 26 by Grant Morrison and Richard Case
-NextWave #5 (THE CRAYON BUTCHERY VARIANT that's a coloring book you can color in!)
-NextWave #1 director's cut
-Fear Agent misc. issues from 1-10
-Buffy The Vampire Slayer variants #2 & #3
-New Avengers #1 (Quesada cover)
-Shazam!: The Monster Society of Evil complete series by Jeff Smith of Bone fame
-Trouble #1 (Frank Cho cover)
-GLA #2 written by Dan Slott
-Blue Beetle #1-6
-The Authority #19 by Millar and Quitely
-Teen Titans misc. issues from 25-30
-Giant Dark Horse Presents Annual (Issue 56 with chapter seven of Sin City)
-Ultra issues 2-8 by The Luna Brothers (excellent!)
-Manhunter misc. issues from #1-15
-Ex Machina #1 (special edition reprint) [I dare you not to be moved by the last page]
-The Escapist #8
-Criminal #1, Demo #1, DMZ #1 (those are #1's of series I was interested in from others' recommendations)
-some DC One Million side issues (Wonder Woman, Superman, Action Comics, JLA, Batman, Detective Comics) to flesh out the main series I already had
-Crisis on Infinite Earths #3
-V for Vendetta #4
-Catwoman: When In Rome #5 by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale
-Capes #3 by Robert Kirkman
-The Kingdom: Offspring (I had to find out about this child of Plastic Man)
-Sin City Silent Night
-30 Days of Night: Red Snow #1
-Captain America #1 (9/11 issue with John Cassaday art)
-World War Hulk tie-in The Irredeemable Ant-Man #10 by Robert Kirkman
-The New Avengers Illuminati #1 (Road To Civil War)

-I've now made five CD-Rs worth of purchased (for free--thanks Coca-Cola and Rhapsody!) music to listen to in the car. Between that and the PSP, who needs iPods? Ironically, a credit card rewards program notice came in the mail this week and indicated that based on my purchased points, I could now own an 8GB iPod Nano.

-I thought I would notice more or have more to say in this post as I've read back through days of LJ friends. Honestly, 900 posts later and still not caught up has me saying "Forget it. I'm going to bed."
