Month Seven Update for 101 Things in 1,001 Days

Mar 01, 2022 12:07

February is always a difficult month for me. The days are still short and the weather is usually dreary and cold. The shortest month of the year never feels short enough to me! I was glad I had the 101 project to keep me busy.

The current political situation and war sure didn’t help either.

Let's see what kind of progress I made in Month Seven, shall we? )

That is so wonderful that you were able to replace your wardrobe due to weight loss! That is what I am hoping to do later in the year.

Do you use a cuff blood pressure monitor or wrist? My cuff one was over 20 years old so I bought a wrist one but I don't think it takes an accurate reading for me. It didn't watch up when I took it to the doctor's office with me. *sigh*

I quit thinking about my diet too much and decided I would let weight watchers do it for me so I am tracking with them and finally getting results.

Oh what a happy thought that you are getting results and hope to be able to have a new wardrobe yourself before the year is out. Best of luck to you, it's a great feeling.

I use a cuff monitor and check every morning. I'm not sure it is entirely accurate, but at least it is consistent and even if it is 10 or 15 points off, I'm still in a good range most of the time. The doc thinks so too and took me off bp meds last summer.

WW is a good program and you're enjoying success, so don't argue with what works, is what I say.

Thanks!

That is amazing that you were able to get off your meds. Was it with diet?

I was thrilled to get off the meds and I think it was a combination of losing 30 pounds (directly related to diet) and regular swimming. The strength training is a new addition so I probably won't see those rewards for some months. Hoping to get off my diabetes med eventually too.

That is absolutely wonderful. You're an inspiration. I just started my journey but I am hoping that I can reduce my blood pressure meds. I don't think I will ever be able to get off of them completely as my blood pressure was on the high side even when I was a healthy weight, but who knows! Never say never.

I am also trying to keep diabetes at bay. Per the guidelines here, I am pre-diabetic. My last fasting number was 116 and they like it around 100. 120 and they call it, so I can't mess around anymore. Good luck on your health journey! I am sure you will be off those meds in no time!

Thank you! It does take discipline and constant attention, which is wearying, but the rewards indeed are so worth it.

An improved diet, weight loss and some moderate exercise surely cannot hurt. Fingers crossed that you can drop - or at least lower the dosage of - the meds.

Yes, diabetes is always a challenge. I'm holding good thoughts for you, that you keep it at bay. You can do this! It just takes time.
