New York City!

So I am home from my big vacation in NYC and quite sad about being home. The trip was a blast and I completely fell in love with New York. Now I understand why my niece (who lives there) calls it "The Center of the Universe".

It sounds like a wonderful vacation. And yeah, New York is crackling with energy, it can be an amazing place! What a kick to have been in Flushing Meadows in '64 and now having a chance to see it again! I'm embarrassed to admit that after all these years of living in New York I've never been to Flushing--well except to the Mets ballpark, but I'm not sure that counts. I've seen the sphere from afar, I had no idea there were other things left from the World's Fair. It must have been something at the time.

Can't wait to hear your report on Veselka; and what else did you get to see?

Errrrm. It's so much easier to watch it on TV *cringe*

The awful thing of course is that if I were a visitor I'd make the effort to go!

LOL, this made me laugh. It's so true, when you live in a place you take so many things for granted and don't make the effort to go.

It was an absolutely fantastic trip, so glad I was able to do it. Crackling with energy - yes, that's a perfect description. I imagine it might get exhausting if exposed to it constantly, but wow, what a jumpstart in the short run.

Well, you were certainly right *there* at the site of the Fair if you went to a Mets game. It's just on the other side of the subway station. *g* It really was exciting back then, my first taste of anything outside my small town existence. I remember some things vividly and some things not at all.
