It sounds like a wonderful vacation. And yeah, New York is crackling with energy, it can be an amazing place! What a kick to have been in Flushing Meadows in '64 and now having a chance to see it again! I'm embarrassed to admit that after all these years of living in New York I've never been to Flushing--well except to the Mets ballpark, but I'm not sure that counts. I've seen the sphere from afar, I had no idea there were other things left from the World's Fair. It must have been something at the time.
Can't wait to hear your report on Veselka; and what else did you get to see?
It was an absolutely fantastic trip, so glad I was able to do it. Crackling with energy - yes, that's a perfect description. I imagine it might get exhausting if exposed to it constantly, but wow, what a jumpstart in the short run.
Well, you were certainly right *there* at the site of the Fair if you went to a Mets game. It's just on the other side of the subway station. *g* It really was exciting back then, my first taste of anything outside my small town existence. I remember some things vividly and some things not at all.
Can't wait to hear your report on Veselka; and what else did you get to see?
