When I Damned Well Want To

The reunion looms. Though Bunnie has made the wait a bit more bearable by saying she may not actually attend the reunion at all. While I will admit, there are a few people from our high school days that I would want to touch base with again, (Kinley!) there are so many more that I will have nothing in common with... just as I did then. And we all know how much I adore forced social situations with no redeemable conversation. So, if Bella gets in touch with me to plan an appearance, I'll go. But otherwise... you shall find me under an oak tree, in the grass, eating BBQ and discussing the state of the soul (metaphysical and footwear) with Bunnie.

I really do miss the trees. My next life, I'm going to be a dryad.

For the present, all free time is going into the move. There has been much painting and prepping of the new place. Lots of packing and trips to Ikea. The Ikea nesting instinct is strong. It's hard to battle such reasonably priced furniture solutions, dammit. The girls have helped with the painting. Putting a paintbrush into the hands of 8 and 10 year olds is a lesson in faith if there ever was one. Though we might have caught them painting themselves, we never caught them painting each other. But with lots of drop cloth and blue tape, we made it through.

There's lots of quirky things about the new place that I love. The fucked up corners of most of the rooms, since it is on the third floor and in the eaves on the house. The awesome looking (I'm pretty sure) original hinges on the doors. There are no normal windows in this place. It's always a casement window with a leaded glass window on each side. The fucked up space that Minx thinks might have once held the phone but I plan to turn into a carpeted shelved playground for Pip. Or the fact that the room we planned to use as our computer room, once we got the desks and chairs in there, is now reminding us of the bridge of the Enterprise. John is going to sit at ops. I'm taking the helm.
