Big Day Out
I had suchhhhhh a gooooood timeeeeeee!
Danni came over and we hung out a bit.. our ride came 1hr and 15minutes late ;_;
We got stuck in traffic. Karnivool started at 12.30 so I was quite worried we were going to miss them. People were going nuts and jumping out of cars.. we kinda thought they were dumb, but then we jumped out :D lol.
We were queuing to get in and I heard Simple Boy start playing ;_; and i was like nyaaaaaaaaaaaa! And after the queue (in which I had to throw out my starburst =( ) Set Fire to the Hive started and I was freakin out and rannnn down the hill insanely. We couldn't get anywhere near them (didn't even realise how to get into that section.) but man, Karnviool were awesome live. New Day! The main guy looked so nerdy with huge glasses, and a Freddie Mercury moustache and terrible chicken-dancing moves. XD So fantastic live though. Great voice.
Yes thats a polka-dot FAWN on my shirt. <3 And a huge fucking headbow. And I thought, hay, I look so scene, I'll surely get lost in the crowd.. but no, it worked, black Danni and stripey sock Goldie were quite easy to spot in the crowd of denim cut offs and singlets.
After that Mastodon started playing, and I hadn't heard any of their stuff before so we went to go get some drinks/pee.. I liked what I could hear, I mean, prog metal, sounds like my kinda thing.. After that we went back to the orange stage for Kasabian. They played Vlad the Impaler first up I think, and that was totally awesome. They also played Shoot the Runner, and then I got bored after that xD Soooooo.
I think we got some food after that. I think we caught the end of The Temper Trap but we weren't impressed/shitty sound was shitty. Then we went to see Passion Pit. I'd only ever heard one or two of their songs, but it's just euphoric happy.. we got right in there and everyone was just happy/dancing/on pills. They were such a caring band, kept asking if everyone was looking after each other/hydrated etc.
Sat around for a while during The Decemberists, then checked out The Horrors, and Midnight Juggernauts. We caught the end of Tombstone which was rad, but then the next song was shit. I bet I missed Into the Galaxy, and that's the whole 2 of their songs that I know.
After that we initiated our plan. Got a Smirnoff Ice and a Marguerita slushie, drank while listening to some of Dizzee Rascal's niggabeatz, peeeed (while rationing out toilet paper..) and then got two bottles of water and a coke. We staked out Muse/Mars Volta in blue stage mosh when Lily Allen started at 5.30pm (muse would finish at 10pm). She's really cute/good live. She played for an hour, even doing Womanizer for some odd reason.. We made friends with some girl in the pit and we sat down and talked. Ends up she was only seeing MV with her bf but she liked them in general, and she loved Muse's new album/didn't really know their old stuff..... *sigh*
Mars Volta came out and it was amazing. Omar looked like Moss from IT crowd. Cedric was wearing a button up, long sleeve black satin shirt. It looked fuckin' sexy, especially with his amazing focals, his handstands/flips, his gyrating hips and salsa dance moves.. xD They were fantastic. Unfortunately, there was a fatttttt seeedy man with bad facial hair (something I find really traumatic) behind us, who was crushing us. Eventually I asked the dude in front of us to let us in front so we wouldn't get groped anymore .. and he let us thank god. So many good songs played.. Cicatriz ESP, Aberinkula, Roulette Dares (This is The Haunt) [Exoskeletal junction at the railroad delayed!] I don't think they played Metatron though ;_; Hurr I wish someone would post a set list, I can't remember ;-; I can't even remember which they played off Octahedron, but old stuff is better anyway :D Maybe Teflon. hm. Anyway GUUUUUD SHOW! We were about 10 from the barrier!
Then Powderfinger were on (no they don't even deserve bold).. @.@ the mosh was so intense by then, and we'd moved up to 6 from the barrier.. We were getting so crushed. Finally when Muse were on, (and they had a magnificent set with three metal grate/projections/dystopic city backdrop/awesum lightz, it was soooo hard to breathe..!! But I could see Matt so close! Ahhhhhh. They played soem good old stuff too (Hysteria, Plug in Baby, Time is Running Out, Feeling Good because Matt loves to play that one.. I just screamed out MEGAPHONE~!!!!! lol) but I had to suffer through Resistance. @.@ Anyway, it was so intense, some times you didn't even need to jump because everyone was jumping and you'd just be forced up with no effort :D Ahh went so hard out. This indian guy behind me and danni was feeling us up too =| HE HAD A BONER. I stomped on him multiple times and escaped. Lost danni like.. halfway through Muse's set...

When we got out of the mosh we were soaking wet from the sprays/spilling water/everybody's sweat, it was disgusting. I also lost my heart shaped glasses. ah well. GREAT TIME.
