Sunsets and lullabies
you cried when the night time came
you wrestled up your demon heart
and softly called my name
morning walks and talks too long
I burned the bridges
I killed the song
I'm just your little part time girl
that's how we play it safe
It's what you bring to the table
that keeps me begging for more
sunrise came too early
and found you curled up on the floor
wrapped around my arm you slept
with your touch still in my skin
I dreamt of whiskey and cigarettes
and places we had been
So sun sets and sad goodbyes
heavy soaked with smudgy eyes
I came to the wishing well
no pennies left
no hopes to sell
I took a dandelion
and quietly gave it your name
blew the rest in secret
I wished I could feel the same
but I'm just your little part time girl
that's how we play it safe
It's what you bring to the table
that keeps me begging for more
sunrise came too early
and found you curled up on the floor
wrapped around my arm you slept
with your touch still in my skin
I dreamt of whiskey and cigarettes
and places we had been
so just let me down easy
this ride moves much too fast
sipping wine and dandelions
these moments never last.

A thousand tear drop yesterdays led me to this place, a path I walk alone,
covered tree top willows weeping, pine cones at my feet, their dusty green smell invading my senses, my body craved primal nature energy. Destiny called, I hung up the phone then wandered wounded through the dark. Shaking violently against the chilly northern winds, I heard my name spoken in the air. Calling me, calling me further. Expand your mind, your senses, remember the lives you've been before. Don't settle for shallowness, your life is greater than you've ever given it for credit for. I walked the highways of littered promises. I rolled around in the muck and mire and felt dirty but cleansed. Destiny called. She said it's time. I guess I knew it all along. Wandering through the dark, I suddenly became aware of stars.
