Avatar and genderbending

Dec 06, 2010 21:56

For reasons unknown, I felt like writing some genderbent!Avatar fic. And in my attempt to not be Zuko-obsessed, I ended up writing three Kataang-ish ones instead. Huh.

For those who are curious, I chose the subjects in an odd way. I'm a possible computer science major, so I wrote a program to randomly chose scenes from the show. Then, I wrote the scenes, genderbent. (The sad part is that making the program was almost as fun as the writing itself.)

Umm, names:
Zuko ... Kazuko; Sokka ... Sokha; Katara ... Kanook, ; Aang ... Ake; Ozai ... Oza; Iroh ... Irah; Azula ... Azulon; Ursa ... Ursai; Mai ... Min; Suki ... Suno; Song ... San
By the way, if anyone has any ideas for names for Toph or Ty Lee, please let me know? (Actually, if you read this at all, let me know.)

So, here's the first five. You can probably expect more in the future:

1.
Kanook was laughing now. "Can you imagine us? Kissing?"

Ake looked away and giggled. "Yeah. I sure wouldn't want to kiss you!"

Kanook's voice got icy. "Thanks."

"I mean… if there was a choice between kissing you and dying… "

The atmosphere got even colder, if possible. Well, if Kanook was going to use his bending...

A small breeze came through, just enough to put out the torch.

2.
Kazuko listens with half an ear as her aunt makes small talk and chides her about her manners. The food was good, but she's ready to leave.

It’s okay. They’ve hurt me, too.

No. It's not okay. This boy is trying to understand her, and he's too far off the mark (and she will tell herself this until she believes it). San and his mother will be much better off if she just leaves.

"I know you don’t think there’s any hope left in the world, but there is hope. The Avatar has returned!"

A lot you know. The avatar's a little girl. She couldn't defeat turtle-duck if her life depended on it, much less the Fire Nation.

Part of Kazuko's mind screams at her of glowing water, of angry spirits and hundreds of dead soldiers floating in the northern waters, but she knows that it was the ocean. Not the twelve year-old nun that she's been following for months.

You want to hope. But you don't know anything. Your words mean nothing.

"I know."

It's time to leave this boy and his tempting words of comfort behind.

3.
Suno was good. He had to be. The Kyoshi Warriors didn't want boys in their group, so if they were going to make an exception...

Thus, when he and the half a dozen other warriors got mauled by three younger boys, he knew there was trouble. Between the warriors on the ground and the ones pinned to the trees, he's the only one left. So he yells.

"Appa! Get out of here!" Go find Ake. If this kid is after her, she'll need all the help she can get.

The firebender's lips curl in contempt, and his eyes glitter with Suno's-not-sure-what, as they both pause before the inevitable.

"Do you really want to fight me? After all," gold eyes flick at Suno's weapons, "You're just fanning the flames."

4.
Ow. Head. Kanook's eyes open, and for a second, he wonders why he's lieing in the snow... Ake! Kazuko got her!

Looking upward, he sees his sister coming back on Appa. He's suddenly relieved. She'll know what to do. Sohka always knows what to do.

"She got Ake."

Master Pakka had called him one of her best students. He could fight now, not just splash around. And he still failed.

His sister's voice breaks his concentration.

"Where could they have gone?"

In the distance, he can feel moving ice, cold and fast, and artic blizzard as bad as any at home. He doesn't think the Fire Nation Princess is stubborn enough to go out there, but...

Please. Anywhere but there.

5.
"I don't care what Aunt Wu told you, you have to take a bath sometime!"

Kanook chuckles a bit as he hears his sister tying to argue with the townspeople. Unlike Ake, he knows when his sister just isn't going to let something go, and this is one of those times.

Speaking of Ake... what was she asking Sohka about? His sister glances over at an alleyway and grins. Why is he... Oh. That boy from Aunt Wu's house. Meng?

So they were talking about boys. Kanook ignores the little voice that wants to know why he cares.
