Building a cider press
I built about 2/3 of an apple press this weekend. I still need to build sides on the trough to direct the juice to the narrow end of the drain board, build a pressing disk for the top of the basket, and bolt the whole thing together.
I built the frame out of (4) 8ft lengths of 4x4 Douglas fir and the basket and drain board out of a 5 ft length of 1x12 red oak. The bottom of the trough is a piece of scrap I had lying around.
