Swallows, gnat-catchers and creepers

A few days ago I saw some swallows flying high above the house.
Yesterday I was walking my daughter around and we saw a pair of small gray birds hopping around in some coyote brush in the middle of a blackberry bramble. As they were looking for small insects a golden-crowned sparrow attempted to chase them off; he must be staking out the bramble for a nest site. I consulted Sibley and I think the little gray birds were blue-gray gnatcatchers.
We continued on into the pine trees where we saw a couple brown creepers were headed up a Bishop pine.
