There's much more to life when you're free...
I feel like the things I've read recently just makes me upset more and more. With the advance in technology and being able to see/hear everyone's opinion - left to right, rational to irrational and reasonable to extremes... There are so many social issues and with so many contributions, I feel like the cause is lost in it.
I remember first hearing about the Perez and Will.I.Am debacle. It pissed me off. Here's the thing - I like liked Perez. I thought his blog was interesting. The thing you have to understand about that was the fact that it's a BLOG and not a new source - granted, these days news is just as biased, if not more, than blogs (ie. Fox News, MSNBC) As as cruel as it was, it was entertaining. There's a way to twist a persona to draw people in. The famous saying is watching the train wreck - you just can't stop. I feel Perez was like that. He was heavily opinionated and his bias clearly showed.
The thing is, if you spew stuff, you should be able to take it. He couldn't. Whether he got hit or not is not the issue with me - the issue is that he used some words that someone who claims to be trying to help the gay movement along with his fame. The word "faggot" should never be used by someone like that. I personally don't think much of the word and I use it in a humor context, however, there are places for that - and I'm not on the spotlight.
Then there's the Obama... Man, more and more I hear about him, more and more I think that there's no change. None. The transparency he spoke of? Nothing came of it. They blocked the interview of Dick Cheney being open to public, not releasing names of people who visit the White House, how much wiretapping is going on, etc etc... Those are the same policies that the right wing held while in office - and then some. I understand not meeting all the promised made in the campaign trail (granted, the ones that mattered to me the most were thrown under the bus as soon as he took office) and there is the whole economic crisis... But damn, this is getting ridiculous...
