Since Steve Jobs have left temporarily taking some sick days from Apple, it's been hard for me to be really excited about their stuff. I mean, iPhone/iPod touch OS 3.0 keynote was awesome and got me excited enough to start debating on getting a dev license but it just doesn't have the excitement as when Steve would get on stage in his signature black turtleneck and jeans...
But I've been thinking lately and I admit that I'm an Apple fanboy. I mean, this post in itself is a declaration of that. In back of my mind, I just hope that Apple does well and gain market share (well, not too much... I'm content with like 30~40...) but innovative company stops somewhere...
This is my gadgetry plans for the year.
I'm planning on getting a Mac Mini to use as a media center/main cpu. It'll be good enough to use Windows 7 Media Center capabilities and stream 1080p video. Plus all I really do on a "main" computer is bittorrent anyways so it shouldn't be bad. It's small and it'll be great. I'm thinking of saving up money and buying it when the back-2-school promotions start. That's pretty much the only time Apple gives any sort of decent deals anyways...
Second is an HDTV. Last year, there were amazing deals everywhere. However, I was lacking revenue. I'm thinking of saving up around $1500 by Black Friday (and yes, maybe stay out in the cold for a nice tv) and get one. I'll be happy with anything from 35~50 range. That'll complement my Mini and complete my entertainment set. (I already have a surround sound... I guess I'm missing a Bluray but I can wait on that.)
Finally, a netbook. Something tiny. Eee or Aspire One would work. I'm also thinking about this for the back-2-school time... I want something lite and small to take to classes and take notes in. And it's not like I do anything heavy duty in my classes to require anything strong. They're tiny and they rock. Yea... I've fallen for the netbook.
I'm only planning few small trips during the summer and fall so I should be able to manage this. I'll stick to it. I need to. Life needs to be fun again :)
