Walking on the Sun

Well, so much for my Lenten resolutions. I was good in that I went to the 6:40 AM. Ash Wednesday service at the Church of the Ascension here in Chicago. I'm not a big fan of Anglo-Catholic Episcopal churches, and the priest running the show seemed to be a characiture of the one from the Princess Bridge, but whatever, it did the trick. And, only one pair of auto journalists made a dumb comment on the show floor.

Unfortunately, we went to dinner last night at Smith & Wollensky's, so my "no meat" plan went out the window. Hey, at least it was after sundown. Still, I managed to avoid liquor and beer the whole night, instead drinking a tad too much red wine first at the House of Blues and then at the world's coldest, darkest bar somewhere on the west side of Chicago. My client had brought in Smashmouth for the show, and I got to party with them beforehand. Yeah, I'm cool like that and all--pictures forthcoming.

Otherwise, the night was uneventful, save for the fact that I swear that a certain up-and-coming chief of design was flirting with me, despite the wedding ring on his finger. Since I'd downed about, oh, four glasses of red wine, I certainly flirted back, but the incredibly mean ssullivan wouldn't let me go beyond that, that bastard!

Today is a light day--I've been given permission to wear jeans on the show floor, since I'm the entire company's presence there, and I only have two quick demos of new product to give. I should have most of the afternoon off, and then Steven arrives late tonight for our weekend together.

But first, where did I pack that Advil?

work, jesus & friends, it's all about me
