A Familiar Face
"Hey Baby," Willow said turning to look at Tara.
Tara was already out of bed getting dressed. "Hey Will. Have a good night sleep?"
"After what happened last night, I had a great sleep. You?"
"It was good." Not really. She had another dream about Amy...and Jake as well. What did this all mean?
"Uhh, another day I gotta get up for work. Wish I could get some other job."
"Willow, I told you this one's good for now."
"All I do is sit at a desk, take calls, and write notes. It's so boring being a secretary."
"But I bet you look sexy."
"Yeah, I have a ton of guys hitting on me. And a couple girls."
"Trying to make me jealous?"
"You know you're the only one for me."
"What about Kennedy?"
"It didn't work out, remember?"
"I'm just kidding."
Willow was sitting at her desk when someone called her name. She looked around to see Jake coming into the building.
"Hey Willow," Jake said going up to her.
"Hey Jake, what brings you here?"
"Business."
"With who?"
"Your employer."
"Mr. Smith?"
"Yep. He's an old friend."
"Oh, what a small world."
"I'll talk with you in a while, I believe my appointment is set up."
Willow looked down at her appointment book. "Oh, there you are. Go on in, see you when you get out."
"See ya."
When jake came out he and Willow went out for lunch.
"So, how's Tara doing?" Jake asked.
"Really well. She's seemed to adjust pretty good."
"Great."
"How have you been?"
"Alright, life's a little crazy, but I manage."
"So, what'd you and Mr. Smith talk about? Or is it confidential."
"It's confidential. He wants to see me after lunch though, for another reason he couldn't say why."
"Aww, here comes our food."
After lunch Jake and Willow went back to the office. Mr. Smith came out to call in Jake.
"Willow, you may take the rest of the day off, Jake you can come with me."
"See you later Willow," Jake said.
"See ya."
Willow made it home to find Tara and Xander watching TV. Miss Tara, as they called the cat now, so not to get Tara confused as to who was talking to her or the cat, came up to Willow as soon as she walked in.
"Hey Miss Tara," Willow said picking her up.
"Hey, Will," Xander said looking around. "Home early today."
"Yeah, boss gave me the rest of the day off."
"That was nice of him," Tara said.
"Yeah, Jake was meeting with him today."
"Your cousin Jake?" Tara asked in surprise.
"Yeah, he said they were old friends."
That night Buffy, Dawn, Willow, Tara, Xander, and Giles all went out to dinner. When they got back there was a note on the apartment door addressed to Willow. Willow opened the letter:
Willow,
We have your cousin Jake. If you want to see him alive again, you'll meet us at the old factory on Juniper Rd. tomorrow morning at six. Come alone!!
Willow could hardly sleep that night. At a half past five, she left for the factory. Unknown to her, Tara and Buffy weren't far behind.
