Questioning the universe....

I'm in the process of changing the email address associated with my LJ account because I don't want any of my family to accidently stumble across any LJ related stuff. It occurs to me that the fact that such a huge part of my life  is secret from all who know me - makes me somewhat strange

*waves* I just stopped by to say Hi and check out "who you are", so to speak, after you recently commented at my LJ. After reading this post of yours, I HAD TO respond.

I'm in the same situation, really. I keep my fandom interests to myself, and so far as I know, no one suspects. My son might have an idea, but he doesn't mention it, and would probably approve anyway. But I've been in fandom quite a long time, and my kids were little then. (teens now, almost out of school, in fact) I didn't want to expose them to the slashiness that I'm into, obviously. As for everyone else, like chibidraco says, I don't want to have to defend my choices and interests to them. And as for my husband, well, for a lot of reasons you won't care to know about, I don't give a damn what he thinks!

I really do wish I had an RL friend who shared these same interests, as it does feel a bit lonely sometimes. It really is like keeping a dirty secret, and I find that really sad sometimes, because I don't think it should be like that.

But NO, YOU'RE NOT WEIRD! hahha. Well, even if you are, at least you're not alone! :D

Thank you so much for commenting. It is very lonely and I must admit it takes a bit of work on my part to keep my 'secret.' BUT I love it and am unwilling to give it up right now. Its very nice to know that though I am now doubt a bit weird (just enough to be interesting of course :D) ... I'm in excellent company.)
