How were everyone's holidays? Yet another pretty quiet one in the Wade family to put into the books. Then again, the Wades are generally not quite the exciting bunch. I mostly hung out with my niece Cher (short for Cherish) and Will (...kind of obvious). They're more like siblings. Cher's 20 and Will's almost 14. We just rented a bunch of movies and vegged out all night every night. I only stayed for 3 nights.

Then, back at work the 27th.

Then, did a midnight champagne toast for New Year's. I feel like I should make a resolution. I know it's a pretty silly tradition, but I don't know what I'd want to make a resolution of. Ideas?

Midnight champagne toast ALONE. Sasha was out at a friend's party. She invited me, but--well--I didn't fell comfortable pretty much crashing a party of someone I didn't know. That and I feared I'd just be an unfun stick-in-the-mud that night.

That's because I secretly hate the holidays. I only go home because I love my family (even though my father and I hardly ever see eye to eye...Have we ever...?) We hardly ever do anything stimulating, just ask how everyone's doing, have dinner, open gifts, then sit around for a few days in awkward silence (after having ran out of questions and responses), and then say goodbyes.

It doesn't help that I start thinking about the family I could have had myself. I know I should stop beating myself up over it, but...how can I? Is there a way? It doesn't help it's this "deep, dark secret" burning a hole in my heart.

The only shining lights were Cher and Will. Thank God for them.
