Fundraiser fun. Star Trek, Spinal Tap, Princess Bride (also decorative redux)
this is one hell of an ad for the house candidate for texas-24. Apparently there's 6 million dollars in attack ads against her. Edit: campaign page link, which has vid at bottom of it
Somewhat relatedly, Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 Eastern there's a Star Trek fundraiser with 19 actors and actresses from all of the shows. Big names. Plus some big name Dems as well - Andrew Yang, Corey Booker, Stacey Abrams, and Pete Butteigig. It works the same way as the Princess Bride thing did a couple weeks ago - any donation will go to various and sundry dem races and give you access to the live stream.
(The Princess Bride Reunion was wonderful and was supposed to be a one time event, but they seem to have figured out how to make it so people can buy later access.)
also I think it's on HBO Max and it's not a fundraiser but there's some sort of West Wing coming up.
Edit: also, coming up on Wednesday, I had totally forgotten about Spinal Tap Reunion, benefiting Pennsylvania Dems
Honestly, I've been giving a lot of thought to how beyond making it so that people from distant places can attend things they couldn't attend, there's a bunch of stuff that couldn't happen except for now when everything's virtual. can you imagine getting together all of those different actors for all these different things if it involved them having to travel to be in the same place?
(Not fundraiser, but I do want to mention -joe and I did talk about the decorative thing a long while ago and more recently. I do recognize that it was an accidentally well placed killer blow as opposed to trying to be anywhere near that damaging, and I've kept aware of the behavior that had him upset at the time, which was being flighty enough at parties I seemed not present to him at all.)
