Especially when the day goes by and I've really done nothing at all. Right now I need to go to bed, because I need to get something done in the morning before some other running around, and then there's Flyingfeet in the evening. I think a goodly deal of the last 1.5 hrs has gone to wrestling with the Post. But other than that.
Other than that. Other than that is that yesterday was extremely full, leaving the house at 1:00 to discover that I can indeed power walk to the WWII in half an hour, and then what with the vets' arrival ETA changing back to 2 and then 2:15 and then 2:30 there was ample time to go up to lots of people (I don't know if this was standard practice when trying to get a group to meet a bus at WWII or not) already there and mention that 100 WWII vets were soon arriving from Philly. Soon is of course relative, but two very large groups decided to hang around and wait, meaning we had a marvelous throng to greet the buses. I held a "free hugs for vets" banner, rather than be doing hugs, what with having been sick.
So that was something. Lost time to Thinmint after I ducked in to the Castle for its air conditioning and a bathroom, and couldn't bring myself to spend over $3 on some drip coffee there. Kinda was trying to get someone to spend more of the day with. Instead ended up at Air and Space and learned something about WWI and the airplane.
Eventually met up with Chris up in Columbia Heights for burgers before going to the CD release party for the Bumper Jacksons, complete with the best burlesque dancer I've seen to date. I didn't know burlesque could be intentionally funny. Nor that the concept of spinning tassles in opposite directions is indeed real. Of course I couldn't get my mind off that Bea Arthur painting back during LJ Nipplegate...
And the dancing was of course wonderful, even if perhaps I would have liked to dance more than I did. One dance was especially thrilling, with a guy who warned me he didn't do much swing so would just be messing around. When I breathlessly asked him what he was like doing something he considers himself good at, he hugged me.
And then I stayed up til nearly 5 reading Game of Thrones, which is bad because now I'm beyond where I was in the series and I really don't want to be reading the book first.
Come to think of it, Friday got late, too, long after I was already done with my energy. Grafinya came and joined me down at the sculpture garden where Deanna Bogart was playing, and then we wandered over to a dance thing at Wilson Plaza that kinda wasn't, and then we went to dinner. But though I was perhaps doing better than I had been on Thursday I really needed more rest than that. I'm afraid I wasn't very good company.
So today admittedly didn't start til 1, but hasn't exactly been a banner of useful, to say the least. I feel like I have to spend time making arrangements so that I can get to a dentist etc in the near future, but right now... best to bed or it'll be way too late again starting the day tomorrow.
