a couple random links

So I'm kinda sorta working from home today, in that I've got stuff to do and my team lead's also off sick, but technically we don't work from home, so I'm also going to spend more time sleeping. Feeling a LOT better than yesterday; whether that's from the antibiotics or the accupuncture I have no idea. The difference in how muzzyheaded I was from before and later in the latter was impressive, though. Many thanks to exsmof for stopping by and picking up Red Dress Ball fliers (2/11, Glen Echo, Eric Felten; proceeds to American Heart Association) for-to bring to Jam Cellar.

1) What happens when you ask Reddit for opinions on the former soviet onion? Something quite akin to an evening at Callahans.
(cos posted about that, and also a link to the intendeed question.)

2) I missed Colbert's Superpac's anti-Romney ads, and that before SC's primary he had ads saying to vote for Caine

3) A couple health care things:
a) allbleedingstops, About delaying care with high deductable plans. Those uninsured are 4x more likely to delay needed care; those with high deductable plans 2x as likely. Also, in families with someone with chronic illness, the healthy members often delay care. Also, have a graph.

b) A useful cartoon: about health care and freedom

4)healthcare + politics: allbleedingstops on When Politics Trump Health CareFor the record, the pretext for this decision is fairly thin; Komen has a policy which prohibits funding of any organizations under congressional investigation. Congress is investigating Planned Parenthood. Ipso facto, case closed, not at all political, right?

However, according to the Washington Post, this is a new policy, adopted after Komen hired conservative Georgia politician and failed gubernatorial candidate Karen Handel as their senior Vice President of Public Policy. Handel, who is pro-life, ran for governor on a pledge to defund Planned Parenthood if elected. No other organizations have been similarly affected at this point. It is also worth noting that the "investigation" which triggered the termination of the partnership is nothing more than a partisan fishing expedition led by pro-life government oversight chairman, Daryl Issa.

5) navigating Google's new privacy policy
