I'm sorry.

I think xilet posted something about tech-writing positions the other day. I don't remember enough to provide greater detail, but he might be a resource.

Best of luck.

Yeah, I saw that. Thing is, I really don't consider myself much of a techwriter. That said, I didn't have much opportunity here to /write/ stuff as opposed to prettifying it. What I really like is teaching. But I'll take a second look...

if you decide you're interested in writing after all, feel free to toss your resume my way, too.

(3 wks vacation, 1 wk sick, 2 personal days/year, and either six or eight holidays, i forget which.)

:chuckle: I guess I do make a lot of whining about PTO...

I'll toss you a resume - sorta depends on quite what you're looking for 'cause I don't want to let you down by being insufficiently useful.

How is a personal day different than a sick day?

a lot of the time 'personal days' are to make up for the fact they won't give all the federal holidays, but know that the building is closed and you can't work. Calling it holiday pay or vacation creates legal obligations, personal days are merely 'policy' and are easier to revoke when you no longer have a govt contract.

but bluntly - personal day is equally often codeword for "we're walking the tightrope trying to avoid discrimination claims by having paid xtian holidays, and not giving non-xtian religious types their religious holidays off, but yet we do not piss off the x-tians by giving other-religions anything that might be perceived as 'fair' much less 'extra', so we give spare unlabeled days to everyone."

starfyrone in one, with the added bonus that one of the personal days is restricted to the first half of the year and one is for the second.

at GE the personal days (there were 5) were for waiting for repairmen and the like. We also had 2 floating holidays.
