Remember when there was so much made of Kerry 'flip-flop'ing?
NPR: A bunch of the stuff in the Health Care Bill that Republican lawmakers are very heavily against . . .
are the very things that Republicans proposed in 1993. In fact, some of the same people are campaigning against those things that they campaigned for back then. Main example: the individual mandate.
Rachel Maddow shows Republican lawmakers who first voted against the stimulus package and are now campaigning on its successes Here's a list of

- Podiatrist sent me for MRI. Some worry of cartilege issue. That would suck. Went to MRI. Got over the sticker shock of needing to pay my annual deductable (still in network) as part of going there. Once we changed the music off of annoyingly cheerful piano jazz I found the MRI an interesting mix of relaxing and maddening.
Keeping the foot still in a not-very-comfy position for a half an hour or so started to get very old about half to 2/3 of the way through, at which point I'd taken to moving other-foot's toes, and my fingers, and other variuos muscles... OTOH other than that I was basically trancing and falling asleep. They gave me the blanket to keep - said it's not washable, but I'm wondering. I think, though, if ever I have to go head first into one of those things I'm bringing earplugs for under the earphones. Pity that they don't have noise canceling earphones. And mine, of course, would have magnets in them.
- Was way too tired to consider going to Avatar with a coworker - would have left Columbia around midnight; instead I was trying to sleep before 11:30.
-
wondermojz gave me a purple spandex swim cap the other day, which I tried out this morning at the pool. She's right - Crawl is far less boring than breast stroke. Unfortunately the flutterkick is currently making my foot hurt, as it forces more point. Whine.
- Otherwise there've been some nice things this week - many compliments during Wednesday's rehearsal (which I do feel somewhat awkward about, given that I'm somewhat an outsider), a good visit, if short, with friends for Mardis Gras, some snow enjoyment.
- Needs must continue to work on health things. But I'm getting there.
