You know, there are things that many people take for granted. One of them, is being able to have water at all. When you have had moments in your life when the only way you could take a bath was to go outside in the winter and melt snow on a fireplace or a stove, or when you have no access to water at all... you start to really appreciate what you ( Read more... )

No, I get what you are saying. You are saying that as a human being, I can't know what my dogs are thinking because they don't think like we do. And you are saying that the reason that I think they have personalities is because I have been conditioned that everything has a cause and an effect. When, in some times, shit just happens.

Though, I disagree that my thinking is just due to that reason. I watched my dogs since they were puppies. I have seen their good days, and I have seen their bad days. I have seen them not like another dog and avoid them through selection. I have seen them do the most stupid things as well. Like my dog will randomly eat shit from the yard, but that is because when she was in the race track they would eat so little and be so starving that they would have to eat shit to try to survive. I have seen my dogs get upset and worried about things, the same dog that I have will start to pace when someone else is in her sleeping spot. She also knows that she gets a cookie around the same time everyday and will annoy you for her cookie. She also knows who to annoy for her cookie. Though, that is just repeated condition that she has learned and recognized.

Some things that they do, I won't get. I can't say that I know every single thing there is to know about dogs. Though, I do know quite a bit. And dogs do have emotions, they express them in ways a human being misinterprets but some are really obvious. I believe that dogs do have personalities, and I do believe they are capable of having mental conditions and disorders.

You can find them to be nothing but a brainless animal if you wish. Though, I am going to disagree with you based on my experience with dogs, at least my own.

Like Meatloaf said, "Two outta three ain't bad". I defintly don't think animals are brainless, but rather I think humans are presumptuous. Emotions, personalities, cause & effect- it's all the same hodgepodge, but I've bothered you enough for now. You seem to get it, despite disagreement.
